Highlights of the programmes assisted and other relevant achievements/issues during the last 5 years (2018-19 to 2022-23):

First Farmers’ Producer Organization (FPO) of the country on the initiation of NCDC got registered in Kashi Vidhyapeeth, Block of Varanasi. As on date 40 FPOs has been registered in Uttar Pradesh by this Directorate. Against allocation year 2022-23, 3 FPOs has already been registered & applications of remaining 27 FPOs are under process and are expected to be registered shortly.

Three Aquarium at the cost of Rs.5.71 lakh under PMMSY scheme has been sanctioned to U.P Matsya Jivi Sahkari Sangh Ltd., Lucknow, UPPCU Lucknow and FPO Tikari Kashi Vidyapeeth respectively.

Under Sahakar Mitra Scheme two interns were trained.

Initiatives for development of Aspirational Districts (identified by NITI Aayog) through Cooperatives:
There are 8 districts identified by NITI Ayog under Aspirational District in Uttar Pradesh viz. Shravasti, Bahraich, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Fatehpur, Chandauli, Chitrakoot and Sonebhadra. Funds to the tune of Rs.2.23 crore has been extended by this Directorate for the implementation of ICDP in the Sonbhadra District, whereas in the District of Balrampur, Bahraich, Chitrakoot, Shravasti, Fatehpur Rs.20.00 Lakh has been disbursed for the development of FPOs under Central Sector Scheme for “Formation and Promotion of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)”

Success Story:
Krishak Utpadak Sangathan Avam Audhanik Vipnan Sahkari Samiti Ltd., Tikari, Kashi Vidhyapeeth, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh
This is the 1st FPO which is registered under cooperative Act under the Central Sector Scheme for formation and promotion of 10000 FPO in the country. The society was registered on 26.02.2021 with only 30 farmers and now they have 304 members having 50% small, marginal and landless farmer members from Kashi Vidhyapeeth block. This FPO is involved in business of mushroom to generate better returns for its members.
In its initial phase FPO had challenges in providing seeds (spawn) to its members on time at competitive price. To ensure the availability of spawn on time, the society invested in its own lab and currently it has fully equipped lab for spawn production. The FPO started selling fresh mushroom from 18.08.2021 and has achieved business turnover of worth Rs. 1.5 Crore as on 31.03.2023, which is a remarkable achievement within a short period of 5 months after registration. The FPO has a paid-up share capital of Rs. 6.08 lakh and recently it has received matching equity grant of Rs. 6.08 lakh under FPO scheme from Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji on 01.01.2022.
This FPO has been sanctioned 02 projects under NCDC’s Corporation Sponsored scheme i.e. Yuva Sahakar Scheme & AMI Scheme for installation of integrated mushroom processing cold room unit.
This FPO has signed MoU with Government of UP (Mid Day Meal) for supply of Mushroom to the basic schools in the district of Varanasi.
FPO has diversified its activities and has started milk collection from over 100 members and delivering the same to AMUL, it also involves in sorting and grading of Chilli and lemons for export. As a result members are earning more income from their own crops.
