· The  major  share  of  assistance  has  gone to the   Processing  Sector   (40%), followed by Industrial & Service Cooperatives (23%), Marketing and Inputs (12%), Weaker Section Programmes (11%), ICD Projects (10%), Storage (3%) and others (1%). Out of 23 districts of the State, Integrated Cooperative Development Projects (ICDPs) were implemented in 8 districts and in the remaining 15 districts; the ICD Projects are under implementation.

· Integrated Fisheries Development Projects were implemented in all the 9 coastal districts of the State.

· During 2007-08, NCDC has disbursed a total assistance of Rs.295.77 crore for various cooperative development projects in the State.

· Direct Funding is the major hallmark of NCDC Project Funding in recent years and during 2007-08, an amount of Rs.195.62 crore was provided for Industrial and Service Sectors under direct funding schemes of the Corporation.

3.          Success stories / achievements:

 90% of the Primary Societies as well as Federations were assisted in the State for creation of storage capacity of 6.91 lakh MTs. Under NCDC Storage Programme as on 31.03.2008, 4003 rural godowns and 571 marketing godowns were sanctioned to Cooperatives at various levels.

1. The Girijan Cooperative Corporation Ltd. (GCC), the State level Tribal Federation and all its Primary Tribal Cooperatives were fully equipped with godowns. These tribal cooperatives are provided with Daily Requirement Depots (DR Depots), transport vehicles, processing units, computers as well as margin money for undertaking business and processing of minor forest produce and distribution of consumer articles in rural areas.

2. The Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Handloom Weavers Federation (APCO) is a major beneficiary under NCDC Schemes. APCO’s wide and unique varieties of handloom & silk materials and fabrics have become a dressing code for State Government and Air India hostesses (pochampally silk sarees). APCO’s products have also wide acceptance in the export market.

3. The Andhra Pradesh Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Ltd. (APDDCF) with a wide variety of dairy products under its brand name “VIJAYA” has become a competitor to AMUL of Anand in India and has also been exporting its products abroad as well.

4. The Integrated Cooperative Development Projects (ICDPs) have been well received and appreciated at the grass root level. The ICD Projects through its emphasis on infrastructure development has given a new image to the grass root level cooperatives instilling confidence in them thereby commanding the respect of rural poor.

5. The Cooperative Sugar Sector has also received the added impetus under NCDC Schemes. The Chodavaram Cooperative Sugar Factory assisted by NCDC is the only one in Cooperative Sector in the State generating surplus power for the grid.

6. The Mulkanoor Cooperative Rural Bank & Marketing Society Ltd. in Karimnagar District has become a landmark for cooperative development in the State as well as in the country. This Society has been provided financial assistance by NCDC to the tune of Rs.572.31 lakh (consisting of Rs.463.0745 lakh as loan and Rs.109.235 lakh as subsidy) as on 31.03.2008 for development of its business activities, computerization, modernization of its rice mill and seed processing units.

7. The Regional Directorate, NCDC, Hyderabad had an impressive performance during 2007-08 releasing Rs.295.55 crore taking 6th position in the Release Map of the Corporation.

4.        Thrust areas:

· District based Integrated Area Development Projects popularly known as ICD Projects is a major thrust area for NCDC funding. The ICD Projects are under implementation in 15 districts of the State.

· Agro-Processing for value addition of the farmers produce.

· Scientific Storage facilities for the benefit of small and marginal farmers to avoid distress sale by them.

· Integrated Livestock Development Projects -Sheep & Goat.

· Working Capital for Business Development especially to Cooperative Sugar Factories, State Level Cooperative Federations like Markfed and APCO is another thrust area for NCDC funding in the State.

· Modernisation and strengthening of Apex Federations of Weaker Section Cooperatives like tribal as well as handloom weavers.

· Increased use of IT for development of Cooperatives.

· Farm Mechanisation for ensuring better returns to farmers is another major focus of NCDC funding in the State.
