Success Stories/Achievements:

 

i.)  Duarbagori Cooperative Society Ltd., P.O. Kuthari, Nagaon District, Assam:

 

The Duarbagori Cooperative Society Ltd. was organised and registered in the year 1973. The area of operation is Duarbori Mauza and some parts of Chatial Mauza area comprising of 37 nos of revenue villages under Kaliabor sub-division in Nagaon District, Assam. The society has a membership of 4876 members as on 31.03.2017. During financial year 2015-16, the society had a turnover of Rs.870.71  lakh.

 

During financial year 2005-06, the society constructed a godown of 650 MT capacity under NCDC-Gramin Bhandran Yojana Scheme. During financial year 2012-13, the society was provided margin money assistance of Rs.20.00 lakh under direct funding scheme of NCDC for raising working capital/business development activities.

 

The main activities of the society are:

 

· Issue of S.T. and M.T. loans for economic development.

· Distribution of PDS and Non PDS consumer goods.

· Procurement of Agricultural products.

· Distribution of Agricultural inputs.

· Sale of petroleum products (Dealer of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd.)

· Deposit Mobilisation Schemes.

 

The notable achievements of the society and manifestation of their social concern is  abridged below:

 

· The society is currently engaging 39 nos of unemployed youths by appointing them as employees of the society.

· The society provides financial assistance to the needy students in the shape of loans.

· The society provides power fencing facilities to a large member of farmers to protect crops from wild animals of the Kaziranga National park, at free of cost.

· The society has been doing Deposit Mobilisation schemes for the greater benefit and habit of small savings to its members. The society owned 3462 nos. of accounts lying with the society with a Deposit of Rs.257.10 lakh as on 31.03.2016.

· The society has been distributing consumer goods to its members besides the above business, the society also distributed Govt.  allotted APL, BPL, AAY, Wheat Products, Levy Sugar, Salt, S. K. Oil & Annapurna Anna Yojana & Special  Adhoc Add. BPL (MMASY) Scheme Rice to selected beneficiaries.

· In the year 1994, the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. sanctioned a petrol Depot to the society which was opened on 24.09.95.  It is the first and only oil depot in the cooperative sector in Assam.

· The society owned a transport agency with two numbers of Tank truck of 12.00 KL capacity.


ii) Ziro Poultry Cooperative Farmers Society Ltd., P.O./P.S. Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh:

 

The Ziro Poultry Cooperative Farmers Society Ltd. was formed in the year 1999 when few young entrepreneurs of Ziro Valley came together with the concept of floating a poultry farm in remote Ziro valley. The venture began with the purchase of the first batch of 100 day old chicks from Guwahati during April, 1999. The society achieved major breakthrough during 2005-06, when the project was granted Rs.55.95 lakh under ICDP, Arunachal Pradesh. From 2009-10 onward, the society upgraded their farm to the strength of 10,000 bird per batch. The society is able to cater to about 50% of the demand in Ziro market (30,000 broiler birds per batch). As on 31.03.2016, the society’s membership position is 149. All the members are ST, out of which 87 members are women. The female members also have formed SHG, comprising of 10 members each, engaging in commercial pig farming. The turnover of the society was Rs.98.00 lakh during financial year 2010-11.

 

The notable achievements of the society and manifestation of their social concern is abridged below:

· The society is dedicated to women empowerment. It has 82% of the total membership represented by women.

· The members are provided with part time/off time employment in the poultry farm according to their availability.

· Most of the members become master trainer in health care system of poultry like vaccination, feed scale, hygiene & sanitation.

· Since inception, there is no occurrence of epidemics like birds flu. ranikhet, CRD, Gambaro diseases.

· The society became the instrument of price stabilization of chicken market of Ziro area and prevented exploitation of consumers.

· The society pays regular Dividends to its members.

· In pursuance of cooperative principle of Concern for Community, the society organized Chicken Mela to sell chicken at reduced price during Myoko festival of Aptani tribals.

· The society organized awareness camp on hygiene and sanitation for its members with the support of Health & Family Welfare Department.
